Luxury, wherever you go!

Motorhome in the Yorkshire Dales

We are literally on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and perfectly situated for the start of your adventure if you're looking to explore this stunning area. Starting off in Richmond, North Yorkshire, the original and first Richmond in the world, why not park up the motorhome and take a look around the beautiful Richmond Castle with it's keep, the tallest and best kept in Europe. After a stroll along the Batts, the grassy open area alongside the river Swale, have a coffee in the old railway station, now a cafe and cinema with shops selling local produce and dispalying work from local artists. From Richmond, head up towards Reeth, taking in the stunning views as you drive the motorhome along the winding road through the bottom of the Valley. As you approach Reeth, you get just a taster of why Swaledale is considered one of the most beautiful areas in the country and perfect for cycling, which is why the Tour De France came through here in 2014.

The first stage in Yorkshire started in Leeds on July 5th 2014 and saw the riders go through Ilkley and Skipton, and before heading through the heart of the Dales via Kettlewell and Hawes. From there they turned across, up and over Buttertubs Pass into Upper Swaledale and down Swaledale into Reeth. Hurtling through Reeth Village Green the race proceeded through Grinton, over to Leyburn before turning south through Ripon to the stage finish in Harrogate.

If cycling isn't your thing, then there are plenty of places to park the motorhome to go for a walk and take in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Coffee shops in Reeth and Gunnerside are well worth a visit and the chocolate brownie in The Dales Bike centre is one not to be missed.

Heading out of Reeth, you could head for a pint at the world's highest put, Tan Hill, where they welcome people staying overnight in motorhomes and sell a great breakfast the next morning. Heading back through Reeth, pick up the Tour de France route and take the winding road over the 'tops' to Redmire and on to Leyburn where you can visit Aysgarth Falls and one of our personal favourites, The Forbidden Corner. You may need to pre book your tickets and be sure to prepare for a very surreal experience.

The Yorkshire Dales is a perfect destination for our motorhome with plenty of places to stay, stunning scenery and great roads.
